Scholarship (Posted 8/24/02)

"It was the highlight of the evening!" commented one of the attendees at the Annual SHHH Dinner last May. And indeed it was for many who were there. This was the 7th year the Rochester Chapter has awarded $500 scholarships to graduating high school seniors who are planning to attend college or receive vocational training…and they also happen to be hard of hearing. The four winners this year are Tanya McCue from Geneseo, Kiel McBride from Victor, Monica Donovan from Pittsford, and Jennifer Buckley from Palmyra/Macedon. These are bright, charming and exceptional students who are certain to be successful in whatever career they choose.

Since 1996, the Rochester Chapter has raised eight thousand dollars that has been awarded to high school seniors. The Scholarship Committee would like to thank Phyllis and Stuart MacDonald, Bobbie and Mark Hargrave, Virginia and Ray Koenig, Ann and Michael Cannarozzo, and Sue and Scott Miller for their financial support which has made this possible. The Committee welcomes donations for future scholarships.
